Food Growing Project

How the £10,000 grant will help

Since the first Covid-19 lock-down in 2020, our wider community have been craving more opportunities to be physically active, growing their own food and engaging with their neighbours in an outward-looking and optimistic way. We feel the food-growing hub will create meaningful links between new and existing communities in our neighbourhood. The food growing hub will provide meaningful educational and volunteering opportunities, encouraging the public to not only develop the garden (designing the space, devising governance systems, preparing soils, planting, watering) but also play a lead role in its continual care, seeding a passion for fresh food, ecology and community building.

Quotation

“The Movement for Good Award enables us to radically transform a historically neglected piece of land into a vibrant community food-growing hub. A space that will connect people with the soil while simultaneously address social isolation and inequalities accessing fresh food in our neighbourhood.”
