About the Charity

We are a social and environmental charity that takes waste timber and either sells it on or turns it into beautiful furniture in our volunteer-driver workshops – this gives disadvantaged members of the community valuable skills and confidence while reducing the city’s impact on the environment.

What our donation will help fund

The Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project, like many other charities, has been feeling the strain of the cost of living crisis, and has been fundraising for several months to keep the operation running.

The £5,000 from Benefact Group will take a huge strain off our financial outlook, such as the cost of timber deliveries and collections, workshop tools, staff wages, premises moves, and much more. By helping us keep The Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project afloat, Benefact Group’s donation will allow us to keep waste timber out of skips, reducing CO2 emissions, all while teaching volunteers from disadvantaged communities beneficial skills such as carpentry and woodworking.

“This grant will help us do what we do best, which is work alongside trainees and volunteers, helping them develop the skills and competences to undertake their role in the charity. With this comes confidence and the chance of making a positive progression to further education, training, or work. The funding will be spent on supporting a further 10 volunteers and trainees to work and learn with the Wood Store.”
