What our grant will help to fund
The grant received from the Benefact Group will help fund the British Eventing Support Trust’s 2025 rehabilitation program. The area of greatest need for the charity’s beneficiaries is rehabilitation and this grant will help us meet the demand our small charity is experiencing.
Between 2022 and 2023 beneficiaries grew by 87% and the trend for 2024 is to grow by a further 48%. In 2023, 82% of all our beneficiaries received rehabilitation support. The beneficiaries are BE competing members who ride at all levels and are amateurs and professionals. For the amateur rider being able to return to their day job is as important as a professional rider’s return to the saddle.
It is also important for our beneficiaries to be treated by physios who understand sport and equestrian sport. The ability to provide this through our network of sports and equestrian rehabilitation centres is key to a successful outcome for the riders. For our beneficiaries, horses are their lives and in many cases their livelihood. The benefit of early and appropriate intervention means that our beneficiaries get back to doing what they love, hopefully at the level they were at previously.
“The British Eventing Support Trust is delighted to receive this generous grant from The Benefact Group. As a charity dedicated to the wellbeing of British Eventing’s competing members, we understand the challenges these athletes face, both physically and mentally, in this demanding sport. With this grant, we will continue our vital support, offering life-changing assistance for riders facing physical challenges. The rehabilitation services this will provide means we will be able to help our beneficiaries at all levels of the sport overcome setbacks and return to doing what they love. We are deeply grateful for The Benefact Groups belief in our mission and their important contribution to our ongoing work.”
