Croydon Steel Orchestra
Registered Charity Number: 1117779
About the Charity
We give children from the ages of 10 to 25 the opportunity to learn how to play steel pan as part of an orchestra for performances in our local community and across the country.
What our donation will help fund
Your donation will contribute towards replacing our minibus. Our current one is 20 years old and is not ULEZ compliant, so we have been unable to do as many performances in London and our local community.
With a new minibus, that has a larger capacity, we will be able to take more children on our performances, as well as tow our trailer and float which transports our instruments and provides a stage for us on our carnival performances. This will allow us to share our love of steel pan with everyone and the Trinidadian and Caribbean heritage it represents.
“At Croydon Steel Orchestra, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of children, teenagers, and adults in our local community through the art of steel pan music. This grant will significantly support our efforts by helping us with the day-to-day running of the band, purchasing new instruments, and ensuring continued access to high-quality tuition for our members. We are excited about the opportunities this funding creates for expanding our program and fostering the next generation of musicians.”
