About the Charity
DogsnHomes Rescue is a small charity based in Fleet, Hampshire, with a simple mission to rescue dogs from Portugal and the UK and find them forever homes; in addition since the start of the Ukraine war we have delivered over 210,000 kg of aid for abandoned dogs and cats.
What our donation will help fund
This Movement for Good Award couldn’t have come at a better time for DogsnHomes Rescue. It will help us continue to help the abandoned dogs and cats in Ukraine. We support many animal shelters, individuals who have taken in pets after their neighbours fled and military working dogs on the front line.
Each month we pay the transportation costs of sending supplies that have been donated and that we have purchased to Ukraine. This varies from funding a whole HGV to contributing to fuel costs for vans run by other charity partners.
The £5,000 award coincides with a donation of 2 tonnes of dog and cat food from pet food manufacturer, Yora, and the first load has just left. DogsnHomes Rescue works with a network of partner non-profit organisations across Ukraine to ensure aid reaches those most in need – all deliveries are tracked. Co-founders, Gary Baxter and Michelle Ballard won Points of Light Awards from the Office of the Prime Minister in 2023 for their work in Ukraine.
“We’re so very grateful to be winners of Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Award. The £5,000 donation will be used to fund our ongoing deliveries of pet food, aid and medical supplies to the cats and dogs left behind in Ukraine. This is an animal welfare crisis on an unimaginable scale and it’s only thanks to such incredible support that we can continue our work.”
