About the charity
FarmAbility provides meaningful occupation for adults with learning disabilities through gardening and farming programmes.
How the £40,000 grant will help
Due to the impact of the Covid pandemic and a change in ownership at our original base, FarmAbility now operates on a range of ‘outreach’ locations, across Oxfordshire. Our sites are welcoming and diverse in the range of activities available but most are not able to provide the full facilities we need, especially in the colder months and/or can only accommodate us for one day a week. We will use these additional funds towards our project of securing a permanent and fulltime base.
This will allow us to work with more co-farmers (we have a long wait list) and diversify and grow our programmes, including further integration activities with people living with dementia and our core work with learning disabilities.
“The funding from Movement for Good will make a big difference to us in helping us to develop a permanent base where we can work and from where we can visit our outreach partners with an increased sense of stability and community for our co-farmers, volunteers and staff.”
