Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire work alongside families through home-visiting volunteers and groups to help families who are isolated and struggling with everyday life challenges.
What our donation will help fund
Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire (HSGNNL) works with families facing challenges who have at least one child aged 5 and under. Established in 2001, HSGNNL core service is home visiting volunteers work alongside parents in their own home to help them cope with the challenges they are facing.
Our group supports, encourages and motivates families to participate in healthy, stimulating activities, reducing isolation and promoting interaction between parents and children and other families. Key activities that our support provides includes the support and motivation to access community facilities such as registering with GPs, Dentists and nurseries.
Volunteers help families utilise existing skills and experiences to improve confidence and self-esteem. Our patient and supportive approach helps connect families within their own, sometimes new communities encouraging peer support and lifelong friendship.
