What our donation will help fund

The timing of this grant was indeed very fortunate for the King’s Lynn Talking Newspaper (KLTN). The company making the USB players, which we provide free to all our new listeners, went into liquidation and we had to look for alternative players as our stock was running very low.

We were able to source 25 new players as well as accompanying charger plugs and spare batteries. We estimate this stock will be sufficient to last us 18 – 24 months. Our studio recording equipment  was old and needed replacement so we purchased a new laptop and recording software as well as a new sound mixer which has led to a much-improved sound quality of our newspaper studio recordings.

Our other main purchase was for 200 new USB recording sticks and a new USB stick copier. We send out around 120 USB sticks to our listeners covering all of West Norfolk with every edition of our newspaper.

“We are most grateful for this grant as it allowed us to get essential new equipment and secure our operation for at least the next 2 to 3 years.”
