About the charity
Make a Move is a charity that helps people make positive changes in their lives and improve their mental health using movement, music, mindfulness and a range of other creative and therapeutic techniques.
What our donation will help fund
The donation will go towards our project Make a Move for Children, which works with children in primary schools and Special Schools in the Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) region.
The project aims to improve children’s mental and physical health, wellbeing, confidence, peer relationships and educational attainment through group sessions led by expert practitioners in therapeutic movement, dance, music and talking therapy. Participating pupils are identified by teachers and practitioners as having social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties in school, and as children whose overall wellbeing would benefit from our support. Pupils will join their peers and perform at the Dance Umbrella, the flagship event of the Bath & North East Somerset School Sport Partnership and Make a Move.
This ever-popular event has grown into a fantastic showcase for schools’ dance, and it provides children with meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences outside of the classroom. The Dance Umbrella brings together young people from across the local area in a celebration of dance and movement. The event provides pupils with the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience in the impressive backdrop of the Bath Forum.
