About the Charity

One Impossible Thing collects preloved sports shoes and redistributes them for free to those who need a little extra help.

What our donation will help fund

The donation from Movement for Good makes a difference to those students who were being given detentions by their PE teacher because they pretended they had forgotten their football boots, rather than admit that their family couldn’t afford a pair for them. It makes a difference to the primary school children whose families couldn’t afford trainers so they were not allowed to take part in PE lessons. It makes a difference to the refugees who were joining in indoor football sessions in bare feet as they had no other shoes to wear. All these people now have the right tools to be able to enjoy sport and reap all the physical and mental benefits that being active brings.

The money we’ve received today will help buy more shoe recycling bins, shoe cleaning equipment, shoe repair equipment and cover petrol costs to both pick up the shoes on a weekly basis from our recycling bins and to drop off our sports shoes to schools, charities and other organisations that need them.

“We have found children are missing out on sport and PE lessons, which is vital for physical and mental health, because they don’t have the right shoes to play in. Having this money from Movement for Good will enable us to fund all aspects of our work, such as recycling bins, petrol costs to pick up and deliver shoes and cleaning and repair supplies for the shoes.”
