About the Charity
Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or another terminal illness (such as heart, lung or neurological disease) across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire. Our vision is to care compassionately for adults living with an advanced or terminal illness, and those closest to them, so that they have the best possible quality of life and the patients’ final days are peaceful… because every day is precious.
What our donation will help fund
All of our services are free to patients and their families and it costs us £25,000 per day to run all of our services. But every donation helps us to provide the highest level of care for our patients and families.
£1,000 could provide Community Nurse services for a week for patients who are being cared for in their own homes or in a care home.
£1,000 could support a patient through our Living Well service, which is designed to help patients living with an advanced or terminal illness, to manage the impact of their illness, cope with changes, improve wellbeing and remain as independent as possible. The Living Well service is run from the Beacon Centre, providing a range of medical and therapeutic services to promote physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing – looking after the whole person, not just their medical needs.
Or £1,000 could provide a month’s worth of meals for a patient in our In-Patient Unit, enabling us to ensure they are getting the best nutrition for the level of care and medication they need.
“We are so grateful for generous donations and grants like this, which enable us to continue to offer exceptional end of life care to local people living with an advanced or terminal illness across West Surrey and NE Hampshire.”
