The Connections Bus Project
Registered Charity Number: 1168343
About the Charity
The charity provides open access youth work (in buildings and on youth buses) across Cambridgeshire for young people in mainly rural locations with limited access to facilities, activities and support.
What our donation will help fund
We are extremely grateful for this donation that will contribute towards the charity’s plan to replace our aging double-decker youth buses within the next 12 months. These buses are essential to the provision of youth clubs in villages across Cambridgeshire where there is a lack of venues for this type of work.
The young people we work with enjoy the provision of a safe space to meet with friends, enjoy positive activities and seek support from youth workers. In a recent survey 77% of these young people said attending had helped improve their mental health and wellbeing.
Because of the age of the buses, repair has become very difficult due to lack of parts and if not replaced, then this vital service will be lost.
“The Connections Bus Project has been providing open-access youth clubs (in buildings and in bespoke youth buses) across Cambridgeshire for over 25 years. In just the last year our youth workers have had contact with over 1,000 young people in 14 communities, giving support and guidance as needed. This grant will help us to replace our aging youth buses that are getting beyond repair.”
