About the charity

As Wales’s largest homelessness and rough sleeping charity, The Wallich operates under three core objectives: getting people off the streets; keeping people off the streets; and creating opportunities for people.

What our donation will help fund

Rapidly increasing living costs has made for a challenging year. As The Wallich’s aim is to keep people safely in their homes, this award will contribute towards its three Financial Assistance Funds; designed to be responsive and flexible to the immediate needs of service users in times of crisis.

Even small financial barriers can derail someone. Covering food, fuel, bills or clothing has become a source of anxiety. The Hardship Fund is a flexible fund for individuals or families struggling to cover the basics. The Client Progression Fund offers a safety net for people facing homelessness, people with barriers to housing, funding basic items to set up a new home or access to training, education, wellbeing or employment opportunities.

Supporting someone out of homelessness goes beyond having a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in. The Project Improvement Fund is there to foster environments where people can develop practical and enjoyable skills. From rebuilding confidence to learning to cook, the fund can offer safe spaces for self-improvement.

“We’re so grateful to the Movement for Good Awards for helping us replenish our small, but life-changing, pots of money available for people we support in crisis. The £1,000 award could cover someone’s electricity bill, a bike to help them get to work, even offer the safety net of a months’ rent.”
