About the Charity

We are WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife and we want to create a world where healthy wetland nature thrives and enriches lives.

What our grant will help to fund

At the present rate of global warming we can expect hotter summers, leading to water shortages and a dramatic increase in the risk of flooding. This will impact wildlife and people in a multitude of ways.

Benefact Group’s donation to WWT’s Climate Resilience Fund will support a programme of projects to deliver improvements to WWT’s 11 wetland sites across the UK, creating the resilience they need to continue their amazing work for nature.

Wetlands are super powered, flood busting, nature boosting, carbon sinking and mood lifting ecosystems and the resilience of our wetlands is essential to life on Earth. WWT’s sites welcome over a million visitors every year, enabling people to connect with nature and experience the super powers of wetlands. It is essential that we protect them so that wetlands can continue to thrive and support wildlife and people for years to come.

“We are delighted to be a beneficiary of Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards. WWT is responsible for creating, restoring and managing over 6,000 hectares of some of the UK’s most important wetlands. As our climate changes, it brings new threats including increased predation and scarcity of water. With this support, we will be able to do more to build the resilience of our wetlands and ensure they continue to thrive for the benefit of people and nature.”
