About the Charity
Wood Street Mission is a children’s charity helping families living in poverty in Manchester and Salford.
What our donation will help fund
This £1,000 award will be an incredible contribution to our Family Basics project, helping us to distribute everyday essentials like children’s clothing, toiletries, coats, books and toys to struggling families across Manchester and Salford. Families who are referred to us come and choose what they’d like to take home, as they would in a shop. The only difference is that everything is free of charge.
The difference this project can make to our community is significant – we offer practical and immediate support when families need it most, so that they can provide for their children, keeping them warm, safe and happy without risking their financial situation any further. This means children stand a much better chance of escaping the cycle of poverty in the long-term.
This award will fund a supply of winter hats, scarves and toiletries. As the cost of living rises, so do rates of hygiene poverty, so it’s vital that we can distribute toiletries to combat this. Many parents are also concerned about the cold winter to come. Thanks to Movement for Good, we’ll be armed with the hats and scarves needed to ease those worries and keep children warm.
