About the Charity

We work to improve welfare and the horse-human partnership through care, research, education, and influence; caring for horses and the people that rely on them.

What our donation will help fund

The average ongoing cost to look after a horse in our care stands at around £5,000 a year. This includes veterinary and farrier treatment, food, water, and bedding, amongst other things. For example, earlier in the year we took into our care a pony who had been found tethered to a barbed wire wrapped bicycle. She was severely underweight, suffering from a lice infestation and was shod on all four feet, despite being far too young for this.

This sweet little pony, who our team later named Pedals, received a full assessment by a team of specialists on arrival at our farm (as do all other horses and ponies who come into our care). She then underwent a rehabilitation programme, which included basic handling to build her confidence in people again, treatment for her lice, farrier work and much more. We’re pleased to say that Pedals made a full recovery and has recently been rehomed.

“The Movement for Good donation of £5,000 helps us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome horses in need like Pedals, and continue our important work to stamp out suffering and improve welfare standards in the UK and across the world.”
