Registered Charity Number: 1040419

About the Charity

We help children, young people, parents, and families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies.

What our grant will help to fund

The grant of £20,000 kindly donated by Benefact Group will be used to invest in our Helpline and is the equivalent to a part time specialist bereavement practitioner for one year.

Our Helpline provides confidential support, information and guidance to around 8,500 individuals, families and professionals every year throughout the UK. This is a frontline service and the specialist bereavement support practitioners that work on it are able to give immediate support as people seek relief from the complex feelings of their own grief or advice on how to manage grief experienced by a child.

This extra resource will help families all across the UK to take the first step in starting to rebuild their lives. It will also enable professionals working with bereaved families to get the support they need to better help those families as well as look after their own wellbeing. Our support helps to address the vulnerability of bereaved parents, children and the wider family to poor mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing.

“We often hear from families on the anniversary of a loved one’s death. This might be at a one year anniversary or we might hear from people who’s child died 20 years ago and something has triggered a memory or a feeling. The best part of my job is knowing I have made a difference. From the start of a call you can hear a change in the callers voice by the end and you know you have given them what they need to embark on the next part of their journey.”
