Project

Big Hitz

How the £10,000 grant will help

‘Big Hitz’ will support twenty young people aged 16 – 19 who are out of education, employment or training and facing challenges with their mental health to complete a community learning programme that empowers them with the skills and confidence to progress into a positive destination.

The project will focus on young people in the Forest of Dean, an area of Gloucestershire that is within the top 10% for deprivation nationally. We will work with local agencies who will be able to refer young people to the ‘Big HITZ’ programme. Participants will work with the support of local business leaders to achieve an accredited NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills, participate in sessions designed to improve mental resilience, develop digital skills, and engage in regular physical activity that boosts mindset.

Quotation

“The Gloucester Rugby Foundation are extremely grateful for the support from Ecclesiastical, as this will allow us to reach even more young people who live in an area of high deprivation where youth unemployment and health inequality are higher than the national average.”
