About the Charity
Music Network is Ireland’s national music development organisation. We make high quality live music accessible to communities, help musicians to develop fulfilling careers and create space for people of all ages and abilities to participate in and connect through music.
What our grant will help to fund
The Lullaby Residency will support the social, cultural and artistic inclusion of migrant communities in Ireland, bringing young children and their families together to connect and build relationships through cultural exchange, music and play.
This programme will engage both new and existing communities in rural County Clare, who over a number of weeks will meet to listen to and share lullabies from each other’s cultures. It will be delivered by skilled musicians with expertise in creating music education projects that make a lasting impact on the lives of children and young people. Following a successful pilot, this grant will not only allow us to introduce this transformative project to a new community but also to enhance its impact.
For the first time, we will collaborate with a trauma practice consultant to further develop the programme’s effectiveness. Additionally, this funding will enable us to mentor local musicians, empowering them to deliver similar initiatives that will benefit communities across Ireland now and in the future. The support of this grant will provide even more families with the opportunity to connect through music & song, helping us build stronger communities founded on trust, respect, understanding and inclusion.
