Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust

Registered Charity Number: 1030884

About the Charity

We protect, create, conserve and restore wetlands for wildlife and people.

What our grant will help to fund

This donation will support WWT’s ‘Blue Recovery Fund’ which has been established to enable the creation and restoration of UK wetlands, halting their massive decline.

Wetlands are incredible places, providing a range of essential ‘ecosystem services’ – they store vast amounts of carbon, reducing flooding, improve water quality and protect us from climate change. Evidence also shows that spending time in wetland environments is also good for our health and wellbeing too.

That’s why WWT have an ambition to create and restore 100,000 hectares of wetlands across the UK by 2050, and the ‘Blue Recovery Fund’ will help us get closer to this goal. Donations to the Fund will support many different types of wetland creation work, such as creating new habitat, and helping us map where it would be best to put wetlands across the UK.

“As we all seek to navigate ourselves through the world’s climate crisis, the work which WWT does to reverse natures decline, through the protection and restoration of wetlands, becomes ever more important. We know that wetlands, through the ecosystems services they provide, are vital in helping protect against the impact of climate change and biodiversity loss, and the Movement for Good donation will make a valuable contribution to WWT’s  ‘Blue Recovery’ ambition to restore and create 100,000 hectares of wetland across the UK by 2050.”
